Suicide Prevention and Awareness Workplace Training
WHY IS SUICIDE PREVENTION IN THE LABOR/CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IMPORTANT?
Construction workers account for a little over 7% of the workforce, but nearly 18% of completed suicides. Prevention is key in reducing this statistic. Workers in this population often try to handle problems alone, push through physical and mental pain, and view seeking help as a weakness. This can be addressed in a supportive way that brings safety to the forefront of the conversation about mental health.
WHAT IS SUICIDE PREVENTION TRAINING?
Suicide prevention training is a wonderful tool to add to your business/union/company’s safety training. Our presentation is specifically formated to bring this important topic to the workers in the construction industry.
HOW IS OUR TRAINING DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS?
Our training highlights the comparisons between your standard safety training (lock in/lock out, tag in/out, harnesses, appropriate gear, etc), and mental health safety. We use language that is relatable and comfortable for the workers, and keep the training interesting and engaging. Stephanie has built a large caseload working with the construction, primarily male, population. She is down to earth and relatable, and can meet the workers where they are in addressing such a sensitive and often uncomfortable topic.
